Bitter/Sweet News
After 90+ years and five generations of wonderful family memories in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, my brother and I put our property up for sale; the closing took place on January 5th. Though it’s an ache in the heart of every member of our families, especially our six grown kids, it’s a bit too far (2100 miles) for them to travel with their families. Immediately following is the description that could be found on the websites with which our property was featured.
Start making memories! This cabin is tucked-in perfectly on 80 acres with over 1,300 feet of frontage on Horseshoe Lake. Horseshoe Lake is literally only minutes from town.
The historic log cabin and log sauna were built in 1929 in true Norwegian fashion. The cabin has all the charm and character you would expect from the 20's.
The front porch has a sweeping, 180º view of the lake. The main floor has a functional kitchen with a cute little breakfast nook, a living room for gathering, and an enclosed back porch perfect for an afternoon game of cribbage. The second floor has a large bedroom with sleeping for five.
If more space is needed for company, check out the guest cottage a short walk away. This cottage is cute and cozy with an eat-in kitchen, a loft with sleeping area, and a Peninsula cook stove that makes it an excellent spot for overflow guests.
The waterfront is pristine and the fishing in great – take out the Livingston boat or the Osprey canoe and enjoy all that Horseshoe Lake has to offer.
Cabins will be sold furnished.

— Update —
The buyers are residents on Horseshoe Lake. It is reported that they wanted forested property of their own where they could hike in summer weather and snowshoe in the heavy snow that falls in the UP of Michigan. We're also told that they intend to keep the property "as is."
